Quick Look: WP Shortcut Tiles (Video)
Back in the heyday of Windows Phone jailbreaking in that wonderful pre-NoDo time period, one of the top reasons to jailbreak your phone for me was the connectivity tiles. This allowed really fast access to Wi-Fi, Cellular, Airplane Mode, and more Settings without the need for multiple tapping and swiping to get through the menu. It was lovely. NoDo crushed all of that if you hadn't jailbroken the phone before updating and then when Mango came around I decided to finally give up my precious shortcuts.
Fast forward to today and we have the Mango-only app called WP Shortcut Tiles by Nazer Aminou, a Microsoft Student Partner. Clearly he's showing a lot of promise because this is almost exactly like our old jailbreak shortcuts but even better. Here's how it works: you open up the Shortcut Tiles app and you're given a Start page layout that shows all of the connectivity shortcuts in tile form. Tap on one of the tiles and the app prompts you if it should pin it. Click ok and you're done! Now you can have quick access to Wi-Fi, Cellular, Airplane Mode, Bluetooth, compose a new email, write a new SMS, and post a status update. The tiles link directly to the corresponding native app so updating your status will go through the Me tile, writing a new SMS will go through the Messages hub, etc.
Overall we've really enjoyed the app and we have to say it is a must download right now for anyone with Mango. Best of all? It's free. So do yourself a favor and click on the tile below to get this sweet app.
