That's right, it's finally happened. The Windows Phone Marketplace has reached its most significant milestone yet: 100,000 apps! All About Windows Phone once again has tapped into their own database tracking system and has observed some fascinating stats about reaching the pivotal goal.

They point out that while technically there are about 88,371 applications that are actually live in the Marketplace to download, the total number of apps submitted and published for the Marketplace is now 100,145 in total. Here are some more quick facts:

  • 26,493 apps were added in the last three months
  • 9,391 apps were added in the last 30 days
  • There are 23,825 registered developers in the Marketplace
  • It took 19 months to reach the 100k milestone, which was faster than Android (24 months) but slower than iOS (16 months).

Congratulations to the Windows Phone team on reaching this huge milestone. Now is the perfect time to cut one of those delicious-looking Windows Phone Cakes, am I right?
