The mystery has been revealed. Microsoft just took to the stage and announced Surface, an all new Windows tablet that is the first PC the company has ever created in-house. Well, make that the first two because Surface is actually a family of tablet products from Microsoft.

Specs revealed so far include a magnesium construction dubbed VaporMg, a 10.6" display, a USB port,  and an integrated kickstand. Not only that, but the Surface tablet's optional Touch Cover also includes a built-in hardware multitouch keyboard with a trackpad (more on that in the links below). Check out the full spec sheets for each device after the break.

There will be two versions available according to Steven Sinofsky: one with Windows RT plus an ARM chipset and another with Windows 8 Pro in combination with an Intel chipset. The former will come in 32 GB and 64 GB capacities, while the latter will have higher capacities. Pricing is unknown, but at the event Sinofsky has been quoted as saying they will be "competitive" with the market.
