We'd be surprised if any new smartphones were released between now and the launch of Windows Phone 8, but apparently ZTE seems intent to do just that. The ZTE N859 recently passed through the FCC though to be honest there's not much we know about the device yet. We do know thanks to some of the documents attached that this new ZTE hardware is operating with Windows Phone 7.5 which is surprising though not expected from the company's budget-focused history. We also know its a CDMA-only device, which suggests to us it won't be venturing too far away from the Asian markets.
Also we know the device is uh, real, because it's been recorded under Elbert Perez's game stats on his website Occasional Gamer. That's where our knowledge of the device ends, aside from the crude image of what the device could look like. (Surprise, it's a rectangle!) Hopefully we'll learn more about the phone soon, especially if some variant of this will be headed abroad to the U.S. and Europe.
