Windows Phone gets a bad rep for still lagging terribly behind iOS and Android when it comes to big mobile app and game launches. The last big offense was Angry Birds Space, which is now at least confirmed to be coming to the platform (though we don't know when). Microsoft is aiming to make the platform more port-friendly with Windows Phone 8's native development support, and it appears they're finally convincing top-tier publishers to produce titles sooner.

Rovio's first post-Angry Birds game is called Amazing Alex, and it has officially launched today for iOS and Android. The game tasks you to solve Rube Goldberg-esque contraptions in order to achieve a goal, and with a strong online aspect to share custom levels the game could be a big hit. According to a few comments from Rovio to the BBC, Windows Phone will be joining the bandwagon sometime "post launch". The game will also be coming to Windows and Mac.

If we had to guess, Rovio is working on providing the game for Windows Phone 8 first with the assistance of Finnish neighbors Nokia, esepcially since the two jointly announced a partnership a few months ago. For a better look at Amazing Alex, head on past the break for the adorable launch trailer.
