Have you ever wondered what it would look like if the new Start screen coming in Windows Phone 7.8 and 8 didn't take up the full-width of the display? Well, forget wondering -- if you have a Nokia Lumia 710 and an adventurous spirit, a new Custom ROM can give you the real thing.

Over at XDA-Developers, the latest version of the Lumiatrix ROM is getting passed around and it touts a couple of neat features. It's based on the latest Nokia 8779 Tango firmware and bundles in the Bazaar homebrew marketplace, Keep WiFi Alive, a few of Windows Phone Hacker's projects, and more. Where the ROM is unique however, is the inclusion of a WP8-like new Start screen...sort of. The smaller-sized tiles are done with a WP8 Tiles app exclusive to the ROM, so it's not quite as slick as the real thing.

Either way, it should be a fun way to make your other Windows Phone-touting friends jealous while everybody waits for the real 7.8 update later this year. You can find the download at the source link, and for everyone else there's a hands-on video of Lumiatrix in action after the break.
