Good news, everyone! If you recall, Microsoft announced just a few weeks ago that their prized pony Windows 8 was expected to launch sometime in October. Now the company has just announced the exact day you can pick up a copy for yourself: October 26, 2012.

Just to refresh your memory, Windows 8 is available as a $14.99 upgrade if you purchase a Windows 7-based PC between now and January. For everyone else, Microsoft is offering a launch promotion For the Windows 8 download for just $39.99. Hopefully this means we'll be seeing Microsoft's Surface tablet around the same time.
