The rumormania is heating up, so much so that we think a return of Rumor Smasher is in order. Today's addition to the insanity is a possible new Windows Phone 8 device for Verizon...from HTC! Up until now, many speculated America's largest wireless carrier would opt to stick with one device and it would almost definitely be from Nokia.
However, it looks like HTC has their own negotiations in place too. Matching up to Windows Phone 8's standard Bluetooth profiles, the HTC 6990LVW gives away its Big Red ambitions through its naming scheme since the manufacturer uses the 'LVW' suffix as an indicator for Verizon.
Not much else is known about the device at this point, but we can try to speculate. The more reliable rumors suggest that Verizon will be carrying a mid-range Nokia, which means there will be an empty hole where the king Windows Phone 8 device may need to fit. HTC could be the one to get that coveted spot, since we haven't seen a high-end phone (even running Android) from them on Verizon yet this year. On the flip side though, if Verizon isn't planning to be too eager to jump on Windows Phone then there's also the chance this could be a mid- to low-range phone. Cutting a long story short, Verizon could really go with any of the three leaked HTC devices we've heard about
We don't recommend putting much investment into all of this speculation since it's based on a rumor based on a rumor, but at least one of those rumors have a high likelihood of coming true. So, split the odds?
