Metro is dead, long live "Modern UI style"? It may sound a little generic but we have a feeling that's the point. What exactly are we talking about? Well The Verge's Tom Warren has spotted multiple references to this word across several Microsoft resources and websites.

There's proof of the new term's use here, and here, and here as well as in more places. It's interesting to see that the term is Modern UI (with the capital 'M') and the extra "-style" suffix when used in reference to app interface development. We'll have to wait and find out if Microsoft will really go with Modern UI as the official future term, but as we said before this could just be a safe, non-infringing word being used as a stopgap solution. Or maybe there just isn't a need for a word like 'Metro' or 'Modern' anymore.

Hey at least it makes more sense than using "Windows 8" (though it is still a possibility according to Mary Jo Foley).
