Today is an exciting day for Microsoft developers, because registration for BUILD 2012 is finally open! Err...well it was open at 9:00 AM Pacific time, until all of the seats sold out within the hour. We might have understated it with 'exciting'. If you missed your window (pun intended) to register, don't worry there's an option on the official BUILD website to join the wait list so do that ASAP if you even want a chance of going.

While you're there, we recommend checking out what the rest of the website has to offer including a beautiful family portrait of all of Microsoft's Metro redesigned logos for their products. Of course we're most interested in the shiny new Windows Phone logo, which inherits the look from its big brother but decided to get a fierce red paint job.

We know the big event is going to be an important one for Windows Phone 8, and we're still sticking with our gut instinct that Redmond on October 30th is where Microsoft is going to talk about U.S. launch plans for new hardware. It seems like a ways off, especially with Nokia World 2012 just around the corner, but we have a hunch Microsoft wants to coordinate the launch this time around instead of botching it as with 7.5 last year. We'll just have to wait and see.
