It's official: Nokia wants to take over the world. Next week there's going to be a big launch event in New York City for their Windows Phone 8 devices. Concurrently they'll be hosting the now invite-only Nokia World 2012 in Helsinki, Finland. Plus later they will actually, you know, release their devices in the weeks thereafter. So if you were looking forward to a less Nokia-heavy news cycle as we entered the new year, think again because the company's CEO is already buying large supplies of suntan lotion for a little trip to Barcelona next year.
The GSMA have announced the keynote speakers for next year's Mobile World Congress, and guess who's on the list again? Nokia CEO Stephen Elop, of course. Last year the company leveraged its time in the spotlight to announce the global Lumia 900 and to debut the Lumia 610. Obviously it's too early to know what's going to be on the agenda for next February, especially because we barely know what's on the agenda for next week. But at least we'll have something to look forward to after the holidays.
