Last week, we were admittedly jealous of New York when the first viral ads for Microsoft's Surface tablets appeared. But now thanks to a few sharp-eyed locals, we've discovered a few new Surface ads in Windows Phone Daily's backyard: Los Angeles, CA.

Surface Evangelist took note of the appearances, and it looks like the ads are getting progressively more significant. The image you see above is a large piece of Surface located along the side of the Fonda Theater off of Hollywood Blvd, an area that receives quite a bit of traffic from locals and tourists alike. The venue is also a small but prestigious locale for concerts, so Microsoft may be aiming to appeal to a younger audience. If you'd like a before-and-after comparison, check out the image below for an idea of what the Fonda theater's side usually looks like (top-left corner of the picture).

A second image, posted after the jump, shows a more conservative-sized Surface piece of viral marketing along a street in Los Angeles. We're very intrigued to see Microsoft moving out of its comfort zone a bit to advertise in these key metropolitan cities for a device that could have a bigger launch than many expected.
