Contrary to earlier misinterpretation, the Chase Mobile app is now available to all Windows Phone owners (not just Nokia Lumias).
Announced last week, the official Chase Mobile app brings along a ton of features for a comprehensive mobile banking experience. Users can manage their payments and transactions, send money to any of their contacts with QuickPay, deposit checks from the comfort of their home with QuickDeposit, and find the closest branch and ATMs.
Since we just so happen to Chase bankers ourselves, we can give you a quick rundown of how the app works. Upon opening Chase Mobile, you'll be asked to login with your User ID and password. After that the app will not recognize your device (since it's new and hasn't been added to your account), so you'll have to tap on the 'Get Code' button to receive an authorization code via call, text, or email. That will be the last hurdle before getting up and running, so once you've cleared that you can access all of the app's features. There's also the handy feature of having access to the ATM/Branch locator without needing to log in, keeping you a little more secure.
(For some more impressions of the app, including a look at the QuickDeposit feature, keep reading after the break.)
We coincidentally had a small check to deposit, so we were eager to try out the well-advertised QuickDeposit feature, which is a trickier experience than commercials make it out to be. You choose which account to deposit to, you must manually enter the amount of the check, and then you have to take photos of the check's front and back. The latter is the toughest, and the app gives you a list of how to make sure you take the photo correctly (while standing up, with lots of light, et al).
After that it seems to take a while before the deposit is verified, and there's a disclaimer saying that the check may take up to two business days before appearing in your account — and that's only if you did everything correctly.
Anyway, for those who have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of Chase Mobile, we think you're tired of us yappin' and want to get to it. Well you can download the app now from the Store for free. Simply click on the tile/link, or scan the QR code to the right with Bing Vision.
