There has been much consternation around when Windows Phone 8 handsets would hit store shelves. The latest rumor to cause a riot came from BGR, who claimed that the Nokia Lumia 920 would be launching on AT&T as soon as October 21st. For those who can remember the pre-Lumia 900 era, BGR was spot on with their rumors detailing that phone's launch price, so they have earned enough goodwill for this latest report to be taken seriously.
Now WPCentral has corroborated that rumor with a report of their own, and it appears October 21st is indeed an important day for AT&T and the Nokia Lumia 920. Unlike the previous report however, the site is hesitating to call October 21st the official launch day and for good reason:
The language in the documentation clearly uses the word "launch" when discussing the Lumia 920, however there are mitigating circumstances that still makes it hard for us to believe. If we had to play it conservatively, we still may be getting the preorder date.
Unfortunately, due to our agreement with our source, we cannot share the contents of the message/documentation nor whom it was from, but be assured that we know that information and we are confident in its accuracy. Our source of the internal AT&T material had earlier confirmed the Mango-update dates for Windows Phone, which turned out to be very accurate. For that reason, we impart a high level of trust in this knowledge.
WPCentral goes on to write that with previous rumors about Windows Phone 8 not seeing a full reveal until late in October, the chances are unlikely. However they are still confident in their source, so expect October 21st to mean something to prospective Lumia 920 buyers.
