We are always impressed when student developers step up to make original projects, and there's one such example in Marek Knura's StarLocker.

It's essentially a modern refresh of Asteroids for Windows Phone, with an onscreen analog stick instead of using the arrows on your keyboard or a sticky joystick at the local arcade. You control a ship, and your objective is to survive. Dodging asteroids, combating enemy space ships, and collecting powerups are all part of the job description.

We spent some time playing StarLocker and it was more fun than we expected. The game is available in the Windows Phone Store now — you can support the developer by buying it fro $0.99, or you can download the free trial. Click on the tile/link below, or scan the QR code with Bing Vision, to start blasting alien scum as soon as you possibly can.
