There was a lot of excitement the other day when Viber released the first version of its Windows Phone app with voice calling on Nokia Lumia devices. However, frustration arose in place of celebration as users reported tons of issues with the app.
On our own article, readers complained that voice calls simply did not work. Meanwhile in the Windows Phone Store, the Viber listing page was bombarded with poor reviews (pictured right). As you can see, some reviewers also said the app "says the other person doesn't have a Viber account but they do". Those are some serious issues, and apparently the company is aware of the situation.
Here is a statement reported by WMPoweruser from the company regarding the app's issues:
We are aware of the problems some of you are experiencing with the new update, and we’re working around the clock to find the source of the problem and resolve it as soon as possible. We apologize for the temporary inconvenience, and we recommend that you stay tuned for news and updates.
At the pace Viber works on their Windows Phone efforts, we aren't so sure this problem will be fixed right away. However, since this is being touted as an important Nokia exclusive maybe the company has enough pressure on it to turn around a fixed version of the app sooner rather than later.
