The clock is ticking as we approach HTC's press event in New York tomorrow morning, and some hot last-minute reports are coming down the wire.
WPDang has learned from sources that HTC will announce two Windows Phone 8 devices tomorrow: the 8X and 8S. The HTC 8X matches up to all of the 'Accord' leaks, highlighted by the 4.3-inch 1280x720 Super LCD 2 screen and a 1.2 GHz Snapdragon S4 processor. Meanwhile, the HTC 8S (codenamed 'Rio') will offer a 4-inch 800x480 display and a 1 GHz Snapdragon S4 Plus processor. Both phones will reportedly be offered in vibrant colors, like purple and pink.
So where is the long-prophesied HTC 'Zenith' with its mighty 4.7-inch display and quad-core processor? Out of the picture according to WPDang's sources, who say the device "currently does not exist". That's not entirely surprising, since last year HTC took the same approach to launch two handsets instead of three. So if this report pans out (and WPDang's intel has a perfect record thus far), we will be treated to a flagship model launching with a sub-4.5 inch display — a rare sight from any of the top smartphone manufacturers regardless of the platform.
We are very excited to see how this new duo will be presented tomorrow morning, and you can bet we'll be awake and pumped up with enough coffee to cover all of the day's announcements. Unfortunately HTC is not providing a live stream, but several major publications will be there with a liveblog of their own so stay tuned!
