Looking for the best in Windows Phone excellence on a budget? New Windows Phone 8 devices may not be cheap when they launch, but fortunately there is now an affordable alternative if you're looking for a holiday gift for someone (or yourself).

A few folks on Reddit have noticed that AT&T has officially dropped the price of the Nokia Lumia 900 to $0.99 with a two-year contract (new or upgrade). It seems the pricing went into effect today, with Reddit user and AT&T employee 'goldegl' saying they received an official email from corporate about the price change a few hours ago. Compared to the rest of AT&T's penny phone lineup, goldegl comments that Nokia's flagship should put them to shame and sell pretty well.

If you or a loved one is looking for a great beginner smartphone and isn't too impressed with Androids or iPhones, the Lumia 900 should be a phenomenal choice.
