In the past few days you might have noticed that the ever-so-popular Metrotube disappeared from the Windows Phone Store. Allaying fears of another plug-pulling moment, the developers let everybody know that it was actually pulled due to a mistake in a new version update. You see, version 3.5 of the app was supposed to go live last week and it did; but upon availability users were met with an inability to login to their YouTube accounts.
Now Metrotube is back after the short hiatus with an improved version 3.6, sans the login troubles. It's much ado about nothing really, since the app is an incremental update without any dramatic new features. However, the update does include an improved search interface, which feels zippier to us and has also squashed some bugs.
The other change is an integrated Google login, which now complies with their API rules and sends you out to an OAuth login page. In other words, a small browser window will open in the app and ask you to login with your YouTube account, followed by giving permission to Metrotube to manage it in all of the wonderful ways it does. It's more secure for you too, so it's a win-win.
As always, you can download Metrotube for free from the Windows Phone Store now. Simply click on the tile/link below, or scan the QR code to the right.
