There's just 21 days left before Windows 8 computers, laptops, and tablets hit the scene and Microsoft is going to make sure you know it. Previously we learned that the company would be hosting a launch shindig on October 25th, and now they have offered a few more details on what to expect.

A new post published to the official Blogging Windows blog promises that New York won't be the only focal point, and in fact there will be several events around the globe to ring in the new operating system. That will include Tokyo, Paris, Shanghai, and other cities worldwide.

Microsoft has begun sending out the invitations above to members of the press, and interestingly there is finally official mention of the Surface tablets. The message reads: "You're invited to celebrate Windows 8, Including a Microsoft Surface Reception". We aren't too sure what we could see from a 'Surface Reception', but that awkward language may be hinting at a pricing and details announcement. Also recall that Xbox Music is supposed to launch the next day as well.

We'll be waiting very, very impatiently for another 21 days.
