With AT&T announcing their Lumia plans and T-Mobile revealing their own unique (and exclusive) hardware, it seems we are approaching very close to launch time. As always, there is a bit of rumor-mongering to go around and this time it's a report clarifying other rumors.
The Verge has come to understand from their enigmatic sources that AT&T is gearing up for Windows Phone 8 device pre-orders later this month. In fact, it just so happens to be a date we've heard quite a bit of chatter about: October 21st. Previously BGR reported that date would play host to the "launch" of the Lumia 920. Then WPCentral corroborated that report yet slightly disagreed, saying it was unclear if that was in reference to the phone's retail release or not.
Now, Tom Warren has come in to say that October 21st will be the first day users can plunk down some cash to reserve themselves a Nokia Lumia 920, Lumia 820, a HTC Windows Phone 8X, or whatever other Windows Phones the carrier plans to sell that we don't yet know about. Customers will also have the option to throw down some cash to reserve one of the new Windows 8 devices AT&T plans to sell — the choice lies between the ASUS Vivo Tab RT and the Samsung ATIV Smart PC. Those devices will go on sale on
Unfortunately, this is still exactly what we've labeled it as: a rumor. However, knowing Mr. Warren's record in guessing these kind of things I'd say it is a safe bet. Time to start saving up, people.
