Continuing this week's theme of games based on board games, we turn our attention to this week's Deal: Zombies!!! by Microsoft Game Studios.
Based on the board game by Twilight Creations, Zombies!!! is all about survival. You are in a city being invaded by zombies, and you obviously want to get the hell out of there. The only way to guarantee escape? A helicopter leaving for safety. The problem? Only one person can make it there, and you compete with several players to be the first to the heliport. The first one to make it wins, and the rest are destined to be zombie chow. It's a little deeper than just making it out, since turns are dice-based and there are also cards which give specific abilities and augment situations.
Unlike Carcassonne, the gameplay of Zombies!!! is much easier to grasp and quite addictive. It appears most folks agree, with the game holding onto a confident 4-star average rating from 459 user reviews. There's also optional DLC to purchase and of course Xbox achievements to earn, two incentives that should keep the game fresh for longer than you'd expect.
